The Nutrition and Food Technology Department at An-Najah National University, organized an educational symposium titled " Nutrition for Athletes " in cooperation with the Directorate of Education in Tulkarm Governorate. The event was organized for athletics supervisors and physical education teachers from several schools of different governorates in Palestine.


The symposium was held via Zoom platform, and aimed to educate school athletes, and coaches about how to manage students' training and match their nutrition to maximize their performance through personalized food and supplement provision.

Also, it aimed to introduce the participants to the athlete’s diet depending upon: The type of sport, the amount of training athletes do, and the amount of time athletes spend in training.

It focused on attaining knowledge and skills that physical education teachers at schools need to make proper food choices and develop lifelong healthy eating patterns for school students.

The symposium was given by Dr. Manal Badrasawi, lecturer in Nutrition and food technology department who talked about the physical health of athletes as it is key to an active lifestyle. She said:" Every person’s needs are different. The amount of food you need depends on your age, height, weight, and sport or activity level. In general, you need to replace the number of calories you burn each day.
