The students, Muayad Abu Mudegham, Alaa Mustafa and Muhammad Youssef from the ‎Veterinary Medicine Department discussed their graduation project, which is operating ‎Sleeve Gastrectomy on a group of rabbits, to examine the possibility of healing the ‎wound location, and  study its effect of the weight. ‎

The research aims at highlighting the operations that are done on the stomach in order to ‎treat obesity and its associated diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart ‎diseases, which are among the serious diseases that are rising at a high rate, according to ‎studies of the World Health Organization.‎

The project also examined the post-operational effects in terms of whether the outer layer ‎of the stomach healing is permanent or not, through histological studies. In additon, the ‎project look at the effect of the Gastric Sleeve Surgery on the concentration of sugar, ‎protein and cholesterol levels in blood, and the effect of the operation on the muscle ‎masses of the body.‎

The project was discussed in the presence of Dr. Bilal Abu Hilal as the principal ‎supervisor, and Dr. Nasr Jalboush, from the Veterinary Department.‎
