As part of the ongoing implementation of the project “Building Community Resilience and Improving Livelihoods and Food Security through Good Agricultural Practices,” funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and Islamic Relief France (SIF), An-Najah National University—represented by the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine and the Energy, Water, and Food Security Research Center—continues to lead field activities in collaboration with the Palestinian Economic and Social Development Center (ESDC), the Palestinian Standards Institution (PSI), and the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).
In the town of Zeita (Tulkarm district), ANNU’s expert team trained 28 selected male and female farmers who met the project’s eligibility criteria. The training aimed to equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to adopt Palestinian Good Agricultural Practices (Pal-GAP) and work toward official certification.
This session is part of a broader series of targeted training workshops across selected areas, focusing on safe and sustainable farming methods. Farmers were introduced to practices that safeguard their produce, protect natural resources, and ensure product quality and worker safety. The training also emphasized workplace safety, hygiene standards, and environmental responsibility—core elements of Pal-GAP requirements.
Through this initiative, farmers are empowered to implement certified practices that improve the safety and marketability of their products while promoting sustainable development in Palestine’s agricultural sector.
