As part of its ongoing commitment to fostering community collaboration and promoting public health awareness, the Department of Nutrition and Food Technology at An-Najah National University's Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine actively participated in the "Healthy Generations Level II" program. This initiative, organized by the Directorate of Education, took place in three schools across the Tulkarm Governorate.
The program featured a series of educational lectures aimed at raising awareness about the importance of reading food product labels among both teachers and students. Dr. Samer Mudalal, a faculty member in the department, delivered a comprehensive presentation on food labeling, explaining the significance of label components and their meanings. He also discussed how this knowledge can be leveraged in boycotting campaigns and emphasized the importance of educating students on how to read and interpret food labels to better understand their nutritional requirements.
Mr. Murad Shalabi, the health supervisor at the Directorate of Education, provided further insights into the preparation of nutritious meals tailored to meet students’ dietary needs. His colleagues, Mr. Firas Awwad and Ms. Inas Abu Safa, elaborated on the program's objectives and outcomes, offering guidance on how to apply the knowledge gained from the sessions in daily practices.
The event concluded with a practical demonstration in which healthy meals were prepared and served to the participating students, reinforcing the educational content and promoting healthy eating habits.
